The Venice Chorale promotes the art of choral singing and enriches the greater Venice community through creative and diverse vocal performances. The Venice Chorale was formed in March of 2002 as Exsultate! The Concert Choir began with 26 singers performing at Grace United Methodist Church, and over the years grew to as many as 100 members singing at the Venice Performing Arts Center. Our choir members are all unpaid volunteers, as are the members of our Board of Directors.
We have become one of three major arts organizations of the Venice Performing Arts Center, along with The Venice Symphony and the Venice Concert Band. With an exceptional artistic team, The Venice Chorale will continue to bring the gift of music and love of song to the Venice community.
Our singers (and audiences) enjoy music that makes them both think and feel what it means to be truly human. That includes a good helping of European classical concert and sacred music, folk traditions and jazz, as well as dramatic music from Broadway and opera.
Over the years the chorus has sung Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, Coronation Mass and Mass in C Minor, Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, Rutter’s Mass of the Children, Rutter’s The Gift of Life, Will Todd’s Mass In Blue, Poulenc’s Gloria, Schubert’s Mass in G and Mass in E-flat, Faure’s Requiem, Rutter’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Rutter’s Gloria– all with full orchestral accompaniment.
Tickets go on sale every summer for the upcoming concert season. They can be purchased online at www.thevenicechorale.org or through the Box Office at the Venice Performing Arts Center located at 1 Indian Avenue on Venice Island (on the Venice High School Campus).
