A brief history of Father John J. Walsh Council 7052
We are and have been an active Council of the Knights of Columbus in Florida since 1978. We are closely associated with Epiphany Cathedral Parish of the Diocese of Venice in Florida. We pursue and practice Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism in our Homes with our Families, in our Community with our Friends and Neighbors, in our Holy Church with our Priests, Religious and Parishioners, at Epiphany Cathedral School with the youth and staff, as well as in our Council with our Ladies Auxiliary, our Fellow Brothers.
The Knights of Columbus is the World’s Largest Nonprofit Catholic Fraternal Service Organization with over 1.8 million members organized into over 14,000 Councils operating in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Guam, Cuba, Saipan, Panama, Poland, the Philippines and US Military Bases throughout the world. Our national charter was petitioned by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut; and granted by the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, as a Fraternal Benefit Society. The Knights of Columbus serve many needs with time, talent and treasure. Some of them are continual, like care of the sick, care of the poor, and care for the disabled. Others are temporal like rebuilding relief after hurricanes, war and other disasters. We also render critical financial aid to our members and their families through our Industry Leading Insurance Program offering life insurance, long-term care insurance and annuities. The needs we serve are ceaseless and supremely rewarding, as we are following Christ’s example. To do this better, we welcome your help.
