Purpose
Venice MainStreet Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that collaborates with the City of Venice, and other community groups, to preserve and enhance the historic character of Venice, while also promoting and encouraging the economic and community vitality of Venice. This is achieved by bringing interesting events to attract visitors and to enhance the lifestyle of our local residents, as well as investing in amenities and infrastructure in Historic Downtown Venice.
Venice MainStreet encourages supporting businesses, nonprofits and community partners to be involved in the direction of the organization by participating in committees and on the Board of Directors.
Affiliation
Venice MainStreet Inc. is affiliated with the Florida Main Street Program and is designated as an Affiliate of Main Street America. Each year, Main Street America and its partners announce the list of designated programs to recognize their commitment to create meaningful improvements to their downtowns using preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approachâ„¢.
Venice MainStreet Inc.’s performance was evaluated through assessments conducted by the organization’s personnel, board of directors, and Florida Main Street, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify local programs that meet rigorous national community evaluation standards.
Downtown MainStreet District
Venice MainStreet Inc. has a defined district. These distinct geographic borders keep the organization’s efforts defined and focused. During outreach and marketing campaigns, Venice MainStreet also promotes all of Venice area’s amenities, such as local beaches, the pier, historical and cultural organizations, and more. These add quality-of-life value for Venice’s residents and enhance local tourism.
The map shows Venice MainStreet Inc.’s district bordered in red. It spans from Business 41 Bypass at East Venice Avenue, to City Hall at Harbor Drive on West Venice Avenue, and includes Tampa Avenue and Miami Avenue, as well as portions of Harbor Drive, Nassau Street and Nokomis Avenue.
